PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT

My organizational skills are top-notch, my spreadsheets are fire, and my teammates hate (love) to see me coming with my Regular Production Updates (tm). So, if you will, let’s take a gander at some of the projects I’ve worked on and how I’ve kept them on track!

Sexy Wolf Girls

Hybrid Short Film

Role: 3D Lead and Animator (January 2024 - March 2024)

Sexy Wolf Girls was a hybrid film produced in another collaborative animation course. However this time, we would need to create all of our assets ourselves. I was the only animator registered in the course, and we only had one technical animator who could model and rig, so I needed to make sure that whatever instructions or assignments I was passing along to our extra help animators was easy to find, easy to understand, and easy to upload!

Dropbox

  • Once our rig was ready to go and we could start animating, I made a Dropbox folder for the 3D team since our extra help wouldn’t have access to the main Dropbox we were using

  • Inside this folder, I made sure that all of our resources were linked so they’d be easy to find

  • Inside the 06_ANIMATION folder, I only created subfolders for the sequences that required 3D animation

Google Slides - Tech Guides

  • One of the most valuable resources I provided to our animators was a technical guide that listed locations of assets, settings that needed to be followed, and general information that was provided by our producer and 2D team

  • I updated this tech guide frequently, with one of the slides hosting the deadlines that we would need to follow to stay on track with the 2D team

  • I also would update the guide with troubleshooting tips to issues we encountered throughout the production, such as the need to green-screen out 2D objects

Discord

  • The entire production utilized Discord as our primary method of communication, though for my team we mainly operated out of a thread I created

  • The important links we needed were pinned to the top of the 3D Animation thread, so they were available in every organizational location we were utilizing

  • I also worked with our producer to create a channel specifically for our syncsketch uploads, so they were easier to find and review
